After moving several times and utilizing the services of a real estate agent, it wasn't until 1999, when studying to obtain my real estate license in Georgia, that I learned that the agents who assisted us with our purchase were not working for us, but rather, they were working for the seller.  It was their job to obtain the best terms and price for the seller, and our interests as buyers were not being protected.

Licensed in 1999 as a  sales associate/REALTOR®, I worked as a listing agent in a traditional brokerage.   Although I was a successful listing agent, my most rewarding moments were when I worked with buyers.  There were no realty firms in this area providing exclusive buyer agency.  This, I knew was a travesty about which I could do nothing at that moment in time, since as a new agent I was legally required to work under a broker.  In Georgia, real estate agents must practice for three years before being able to sit for the State Brokers licensing test to acquire a broker's license.

As a new agent, I immediately focused on learning as much as I could about the real estate transaction and  how to best represent clients.  I attended the Graduate Realtor Institute (GRI) which is a path to obtaining a brokers license as well as a Broker's class.  At that time, GRI classes were taken over a three year period (one week a year) and attendees were tested at the end of the curriculum.  In addition to attending GRI and a brokers training class, I attended classes to obtain additional training in specialty areas such as how to best serve our senior population as a Seniors Real Estate Specialist (SRES), and how to represent buyers as an Accredited Buyer Representative (ABR).  I continue to take courses annually to stay current with real estate issues.

In 2002, as soon as I reached my three year anniversary as a real estate agent, I passed the Georgia State Broker's Exam and within a month my husband and I opened Jayne Hanlon Realty, LLC.   Our mission:  To represent real estate buyers in a confidential, ethical and professional manner negotiating on behalf of the buyer for the best terms and conditions with no conflicts of interests.  What the listing agent is to the seller we are to the buyer.

I enjoy representing buyers, and I am proud of the services I provide.  I am a full-time owner/broker/REALTOR®, and I have many repeat clients and many referrals from past clients.  Click here for testimonials.

My family and I have lived in the Dahlonega area since Autumn of 1999.  My husband, my two daughters, and I enjoy the small town feel of Dahlonega and all that it has to offer.  In fact, we love the area so much that we convinced my parents to move here as well. Conveniently located in the scenic foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Dahlonega is only 65 miles north of downtown Atlanta and 42 miles north of Alpharetta.  We are blessed to live in an area that we love so much.   We enjoy strolling and shopping at our downtown Square, eating in our restaurants, visiting the theater, attending functions at our local college and vineyards,  and touring the National Forest .  Visit our area information page to see links to these attractions and more.

I have been involved in our local community as a volunteer serving on committees and boards, in Kiwanis International, and in professional organizations.
